Debbie

After High School, Debbie was offered scholarships to dance at the University of Utah. A year later she transferred to Brigham Young University where she earned a BS. She performed with many different dance companies. Later, while raising her family and still loving to move she taught Aerobics and Spinning classes. Diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue in 2000, Debbie underwent a major change, unable to continue her traditional way of moving. She started down the path of healing herself! What she found has changed her For the Better! Over the past 20 years, She's helped many people, including herself find new avenues of living a life filled with activity, health, passion and hope. She discovered for herself that when we continuously look for our flaws, eventually, the body begins to break down. What we create within manifests what is happening without. Yoga became a lifeline. True nutrition that comes from the Earth became a staple habit. Thoughts have become dream building! A few years she passionately studied the art of Teaching Yoga! It opened her mind to new possibilities in the way she processed information! What has followed has left her grinning with an excitement that bubbles up from deep within! She's a wife and mother to 5 adult children. She has 17 grandchildren. She loves moving in almost anyway! (running to run is the exception!). The outdoor calls to her often. She can be found in lakes, on mountain trails, tandem biking with her hubby and in her yard.

Debbie instructs the following:
  • Gentle/Restore Yoga
  • This 75 min. class is designed to calm and reset your nervous system. A gentle pace will be maintained as the class moves through standing postures, floor stretches, balance postures and slow vinyasa style movements. There will be quiet music in the background and frequent reminders to stay connected to the breath. The last 20 minutes of class you will be resting in a supported savasana, using blankets, bolsters and an eye pillow. During this time there will be no talking. Your body and mind will move into a deep, restful state. This supported stillness, practiced over time reduces stress, anxiety and lowers the levels of cortisol in your system. All yoga ability levels from beginner to experienced are welcome and can physically, and mentally greatly benefit from this class.

  • Alignment-based Yoga Flow
  • This alignment-based yoga flow allows all students to reach deep into their bodies and mind, connecting these two practices. As the name of the class suggests, it focuses on body alignment principles in the postures.  It is an intermediate class, but all levels can benefit and teachers are able to adapt this class for anyone.

  • Hot Gentle Yoga
  • In Hot Gentle Yoga we focus on encouraging the body to release stress and tension with movements that improve range of motion and restore mobility. This slow flowing class will open and stretch your muscles with careful alignment and conscious breath work, build stability, flexibility and balance in a safe environment and create the capacity to live more fully within the body. Learn how to mindfully cultivate a relaxed state like a deep, nourishing exhale at the end of the day. Practicing in our Infrared Heated Room allows students to reach deep into the body and release toxins. Come away from class renewed and refreshed. Chairs are available.

  • Gentle Yoga
  • This 75 minute class is available to everyone at any skill level. This is a great class for beginners and seasoned yogis looking for a quiet calm space to connect to their inner stillness. It is for people needing healing, restorative, relaxing, and supported poses. It's a change of pace for your mind and body as well as safe for prenatal mamas. In each class you always go at your own pace and listen to your body. Gentle yoga begins with a short meditation to help you engage in conscious breathing. A series of basic yoga postures will follow to warm and strengthen the body. Some classes will include restorative postures. These poses open and relax the muscles through passive stretching. They also facilitate deep relaxation of the mind. All classes will end with savasana, however some gentle classes will offer a longer supported savasana (15-20 minutes). Savasana is a key component of almost every yoga practice for relaxation and integration as it aids in the calming of the body, mind and nervous system.

  • Hot Vinyasa
  • Hot Vinyasa, is what you think of when you think "Hot Yoga", also called "flow yoga". Hot Vinyasa is a breath-centered practice in our infrared hot yoga room, varying between 95-105 degrees of infrared heat, so you get ALL the health benefits of an infrared sauna in addition to all the benefits of yoga. The sequences vary in the types of poses done, how long they are held, and difficulty of the class. All levels are welcome and encouraged to practice at the student's own level, as teachers will offer different variations to poses. Movements are cued by the breath, and designed to flow seamlessly and intuitively, making this a fun and lively class, and our most popular form of hot yoga.
