What is an InBody Body Composition Scan?

An InBody Scan is a quick, non-invasive body composition analysis that uses bioelectrical impedance to measure and track metrics such as body fat, muscle mass, body water, visceral fat, and basal metabolic rate (BMR) giving you a clearer picture of what your body is made of beyond the number on the scale.

What information do I get from an InBody scan?
  • Intracellular water (in lbs):
  • water locked inside of cells
  • Extracellular water (in lbs):
  • water not held inside cells (water in eyes, mouth, bladder, blood)
  • Total Body Water (in lbs)
  • Makes up major portion of weight

  • Predictor of future mobility and independence
  • TBW/LBM
  • Second hydration indicator
  • Skeletal Muscle Index

  • Suggestions on fat and muscle changes for optimal health
  • Visual graph of past test results to track progress of weight, muscle, fat, and hydration
Should I do an InBody scan?

The scale tells you how much you weigh. An InBody scan helps show you what that weight is made of.

This is extremely helpful for:

  • Athletes & active individuals
  •  track muscle development and body composition changes.
  • Those building muscle
  •  monitor skeletal muscle mass and how it changes over time.
  •  Those working toward fat loss
  •  see changes in body fat alongside changes in muscle, rather than relying solely on the scale.
  • Anyone managing their weight
  •  understand whether changes in weight are primarily from fat, muscle, or body water.
  • Wellness-focused individuals
  •  establish a baseline and track changes in body composition over time.
  • Anyone who loves measurable progress
  •  turn your goals into objective data you can monitor from one scan to the next.

Who should NOT do an InBody Scan

  • Pacemakers
  • Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)
  • Other implanted electronic medical devices that may be affected by electrical currents
  • not recommended during pregnancy
